Manufacturer names identify the products and compatibility of parts we list. A listing does not mean we are an authorised distributor for that manufacturer.

How it works

Inside an optical smoke detector

Most marine smoke detectors share the same basic layers. Knowing which part has failed helps you order the right replacement, whether that is a complete head or only the base.

  1. 01

    Cover and indicator LED

The outer cover lets smoke in through the side vents while keeping out direct light. Its LED lights when the detector reports an alarm, so crew can find it quickly.

  2. 02

    Insect mesh

A fine mesh around the chamber stops insects and larger dust entering the sensing area, a common cause of false alarms in engine rooms and cargo spaces.

  3. 03

    Optical chamber

Inside a dark labyrinth, an LED and a photodiode sit off-axis. When smoke enters, particles scatter the light onto the photodiode and the reading rises.

  4. 04

    Electronics

The circuit board turns the reading into a status and, on addressable systems, reports it with the device's own address so the panel shows exactly where the alarm is.

  5. 05

    Mounting base

The base is fixed to the deckhead and wired into the detection loop. The head twists on and off, so a faulty head can usually be replaced without rewiring.

Fire detection parts often look alike across system generations. A few details let us identify the exact item and avoid a wrong match.

  • The device label

A clear photo showing the manufacturer, model and part number, and any revision code.

  • The system or panel

The control panel model and the loop or protocol it uses, if known.

  • Your vessel

Vessel name, IMO number and type, plus any class or flag requirements.

  • Delivery details

Port or address, ship agent and the date you need the part on board.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I find the right replacement part?

Search by the model number or part number printed on the device label. If you can't find it, send us a photo of the label, the panel or system type and your vessel details through the Request a Quote form, and we'll check it for you.

Why do some products show “Request a quote” instead of a price?

Prices for many marine spare parts depend on condition, source, quantity and current supplier costs. Where we don't have a confirmed price, we quote each request individually rather than show a figure that may be wrong.

Are the products new, used or refurbished?

It depends on the item. The condition is shown on the product page where it's known, and it is always stated in your quotation before you order.

Is a product in stock if it's listed on the website?

Product pages marked “In stock” are held in our Fujairah warehouse. Other parts are sourced to order, and those pages say “Contact us to confirm availability”. Either way, availability and lead time are confirmed in your quotation or order confirmation.

Do you ship outside the UAE?

Yes. We supply customers across the GCC, Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa and other international markets. Shipping cost, method and estimated delivery are confirmed in your quotation. See our Shipping Policy for details.
